Engine overheat!!! Advice/Insight needed.

I just picked this car (2000 9-5) up on Wednesday and it has performed fine, until today. I just dropped off some friends and I was making a u-turn when I noticed the triangle w/! warning light go on. I looked around the intrument panel for any abnormal signs. I noticed the temp gauge was pegged at H!!! I shut off the car and then steam started coming out of the drivers side under the hood. As we pushed the car to the side of the road, there was a puddle of coolant on the ground and coolant leaked onto the driver's side wheel. Called SAAB roadside assistance they got a tow truck driver to me in about 20 minutes, got towed to Burlingame SAAB, who was not very helpful (whole other story). So, now it's sitting at the dealership waiting for monday to roll around to find out what's wrong. Thank God it still has 4000 miles on the original warranty.
I've driven it quite a bit since i've gotten it. I did a short road trip (500 miles) this weekend. It was all highway driving. I let the car idle for a minute or two after my trip. It was quite warm so, the AC was on the whole time. but, i've never had this problem before. Any ideas? I'm not angry or mad, It performed wonderfully this weekend and I was getting to really like this car, but then this happened and to say the least, i'm a little disappointed and embarrassed because it happened in front of so many people. The SAAB sales people at Burlingame were really nervous when the tow truck showed up with my car, they were hardly sympathetic. Sorry for the long post.
