My two cents...
I've been exposed to most.
The aero is a blast - lithe, powerful, roomy, reliable. Best package.
A6's suffer Audi's horrible reliabilty record. Too bad, a beautiful interior. But a porker in the twisties.
540iT - my cousin has probably the only 6 peed manual 540iT around - it was ordered for the dealers wife. BUT - she didn't want a stick. Fast, powerful, heavy. But - wait - nearly 60K to put the Labrador in back. No thanks. 60K gets me an Aero and a nice 'vert for the sunny days.
C-Class - typical new MB reliability. A friend is a service writer. 'Nuff said.
W8 - said MB service writie has the 6 speed. Nice, heavy, a real proker though - even with sport package. Might as well get an A6, for all the VW issues around.
V70 - Probably to closest competitor as a package to the Saab, but, again, reliability issues - especially the tranny.
