my 2 cents
If you live in northern virginia, you can get get it done by International Motors at Dulles(Sterling) and ask for Paul. They did my upgrade and the core charge was seamless to me. They held the original ecu for a couple of weeks just in case.
For my experience, I think it's the way to get Aero fun out of an old 99 and it beats plunking down more $ for a new 9-5 like I was going to. My gas mileage was better in highway. As one poster stated, 2nd gear is torturous but once you get into 3rd or 4th, you have a nice range to pull. This upgrade is especially good for people who have picked up a 99 or 00 9-5 to get a better car. Like Jim/turbo5spd said, suspension upgrading is suggested to enhance the fun. Good luck in your decision making.
