Happened to my 2002 Aero SW about a week after I took delivery in July 2002. Driving on I-495 about 70MPH in the inboard lane. Heard a thump and something fly up from the left front fender and then a lot of thumping. Managed to pull across to the breakdown lane to take a look. The driver's side turn signal module was hanging loose by it's wiring. Unplugged it and drove to the dealer. Carried it in to service via the salesroom making a lot of noise about how it had popped out. They reinstalled it and have had no further problem. Did damage to the paint on the left front fender so Saab had to have it repainted. Registered a complaint about it with the then president of Saab USA at SOC 2002. Haven't seen much about this problem since. They have gone to clips instead of mounting screws and apparently some of the clips do not latch properly. The vibration of normal driving causes them to unlatch and out pops the module. In your case it also unplugged and caused minimal damage. The body shop the dealer used was supposed to take 3 or 4 days to repaint the fender. I took 7 or 8 days. I need it for a planned trip, so I bitched some more and got the car back with the fender repainted. That has been the main problem with the car since I have had it. Probably could be easily checked during the dealer prep if it was added to the checklist.
