Well, I followed your very specific instructions (Techron/Shell premium) somewhat skeptically, and was impressed to find that I went up to 14-16 mpg right off the bat. Maybe as high as 17 if I hit several street lights just right and got cruising at 45.
Then, on the highway (10 miles at 60 - 70), it zoomed up to 27, and I suspect would have gone higher if I'd had somewhere further to drive. I'll find out next weekend on drive to Boston, and weekend after on drive to Lake Placid (the drive for which I bought the car).
I was brought up to think all gas is the same and most engine treatments a rip off if the car is decently maintained. What is it about Shell that makes it (in your estimation) better than competitors', and what's 2nd and 3rd best?
Thanks again for the clear advice, the rest of which I'll look into as well.
Josh
