I'm just curious, what's the time an average stick driver spends on shifting a gear? Would half a second sound about right? One foot up, another foot down, right hand on the lever, pull, push, foot down, foot up... Can you do it fast? Of course you can. But my point is, if you do a fairly complex dance that involves three of your limbs at once, it would certainly *feel* faster than achieving the same effect by pushing a button and waiting for a gear to change ;)
