This problem happened while the car was driving, not after we replaced the belt. The engine just started to make noise. It was towed in and we discovered a worn idler pulley and the belt was out of time. We replaced the belt, the tensioner, the idlers but it jumped again. We replaced the tensioner and the belt again and ran the engine with the timing cover off and it jumped yet again. All parts are O.E.M. All cam bearings are good and when the engine is timed correctly it runs and sounds fine. In the US we get the 60K mile timing belt for free. This free job does not include the idler pulley replacement that should be done too. Any ideas from a G.M. tech?
