RE: 1999 9-5 2.3lpt, 85,000 miles.
Yesterday night I went to start up the Saab and it was immediately clear I had a dead DI Cassette: smoke coming from the harness connected to the DI Cassette and no ability to start. This was a sudden failure, nothing gradual about it.
Had it towed to my indie Saab mechanic, who replaced it this morning and sent me on my way. Out of curiousity I opened the hood when I got home, only to find a RED DI Cassette.
My impression (as a former owner of a 900 SE Turbo) was that the red DI Cassette was for the T5 engine and the black one was for the T7 engine. So this concerns me. Can and/or will this create problems in the future? Or am I horribly misinformed?
