Talked to the owner of the shop; he tells me there is absolutely no difference in the DI cassettes other than price & color. Functionally there is no difference. I did drive home with no problems, so this made me feel comfortable that it was OK.
I'm not really sure what to make of this because he is one of the most respected Saab-only independent specialists in the country (Saabtech in Chicago), and I'm inclined to trust what he is telling me. However, this goes against all the logic I've ever heard about DI Cassettes up until today.
Sure we've all discussed this on the boards in the past, but are there any ABSOLUTE FACTS which can be proven / backed up as to why the black DI is the ONLY fully compatible DI with the 9-5?
As 9-5 owners are we just inclined to say the black DI cassette is the only compatible DI because it's all we've ever known in our cars? Does anyone really KNOW that it is wrong to have a red DI?
I'm not looking for hearsay now, I'm looking for facts.
