I've got a 2000 V6 SE wagon that I took up to the local ski hill for the first time since acquiring the car. When I went to drive home, I found the parking brake wouldn't disengage and the driver's side rear wheel locked up (very similar to this post in early December, see link below). Temperature was in the low 20's at the time and since I was driving on packed snow, there wasn't really much friction to break the tire free from the brake.

After about a hundred yards the wheel started to turn but it was obvious that the brake was still siezed...I could smell the burning of the brake pads and there was an ominous squeaking coming from the rear of the car. After stopping a second time to read the owners manual about the ABS and Brake warning lights, engaging and disengaging the parking brake and pumping the brakes, the parking brake unsiezed and the warning lights went out.

I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have it looked at. My question is, other than the guy in the post I mentioned above, has anyone else encountered this problem and what did you do to correct it? Other than the pads being worn and perhaps the rotors too, are there any other components which may have been damaged by this? Is there a TSB or other fix that the dealer can apply to ensure this doesn't happen again?

For being a car designed and built in a cold weather climate, you'd think that temps in the 20's wouldn't pose such a problem. Never had this problem with any other car I've owned.....
