Now have 21K on our '02 9-5 & we love the car. BUT: Coming home from the 10K service, with groceries, including frozen food, in the car on a hot day, the car died & my wife was stranded. Wouldn't even try to start. My wife called the dealer, who sent a tow truck & had the problem fixed in a couple hours; it was a valve that essentially blew up and allowed lots of air to go in, creating a massive vaccuum leak. I rescued the groceries in time; thanks to cell phones.
At about 15K, the rt. side mirror would no longer tilt down in reverse.
At the 20 K service we asked the dealer to make changes in the heater control so it would not automatically come on on defrost & fog up the windshield immediately when the temp was cold. He could not reprogram the thing, said the module was bad & ordered a new part.
At 21K, before that part has come in, we now get a "front light failure" message on the SID & have no low beams.
Ok, so nothing major, but 4 problems in 21K is not acceptable.
Glad for the 50K warranty, but getting more interested in the extended warranty when the time comes. And maybe next time we'll look at a Bimmer or maybe a Volvo. Sure preferred the 9-5 over the S-60 last time, though. Beginning to look like our '72 & our '74 Saab 99's, which we loved when they ran, but they didn't run enough. Damn!
