The wagon and sedan are rated the same. I tow a 2,000 lb travel trailer with my sedan about 6-8K miles a year. The ratings are as you describe with 3,500 being listed in Europe and 2,000 in NA. The Tongue Weight is critical at 165lbs. I use Mobil 1 15W-50 in the summer which is my primary tow season. I opted for the dealer installed Saab Hitch. I chose this since it uses all the mounting points prescribed by Saab Mechanical Engineers when the car was designed to accomodate a hitch. Others have chosen to go a less expensive route which is after market hitches which don't seem to have as many mounting points. With the wagon you can get load leveling shocks which would be nice to have. Good luck in whatever you choose.
