High humidities and temperatures will reduce throttle losses of an engine (on part throttle). Thats theory. The T7 also seems to thrive on extremes of temperature were the T5 would loose MPGs in the cold or very hot weather.
Oil and tire pressures are key factors too. Older tires can have lower rolling resistant too. And some snow tires will have less rolling resistance than performance tires.
