inside the clear cover is around the edge. There is a plastic cover on top, once that thing gets peeled off or cracked, everything fades quickly.
So, I would imagine putting some clear sealant just around the edge between the clear cover and the surround would make the thing last.
You could always buy an extra one just in case, $10 is a good price.
