9-5 Wagon, New or 2001?

My 1999 9-5 SE Wagon gave up it's life on April 1, 2004. RIP. A friend was driving it (with our permission) while we were in Hawaii and she totaled it :(. Luckily, no one was hurt except for the car. We were done with payments and we were looking forward to keeping the car for another 5 years. C'est la vie.
Now we need a "new" car and we intend to buy another 9-5 Wagon. We just can't make up our mind on a used 2001 9-5 SE (my husband really liked the V6) or a new 9-5 Arc Wagon. We are eligible for the GM Supplier's discount which is really sweet, but it's very tempting to save some money and get a used car. Our other car is a 1995 Toyota Celica convertible which has been great, but my plans to replace it with a 9-3 convertible have been derailed and I'm not sure what we would do if the Toyota died in the next couple of years of Saab car payments.
Anyway ... I know a lot of you are coming off your 3 year leases and getting new cars. What are the biggest differences between the 2001 and 2004? I don't think there was a whole lot of difference between my 1999 and a 2001. BTW, the cost difference between a 2001 Certified Used and a new 2004 would be about 8-10K.
One last thing :). Is it really difficult to find a manual transmission? Saab Exchange (where we bought our last car) said they had not seen a 2004 manual Arc. We had to settle for an automatic in 1999 because it was at the end of the year and pickings were really slim.
Thanks!
