big time smoke screen. Saab knows the only real solution is when the last autos are produced with the T7, even Saab cannot change the laws of thermodynamics. Likely to do a redesign is just too cost prohibitive for a company in the current situation Saab is in, I'm sure their resources are devoted to new models, engines and their related mgmt systems. The ignition system used in the new 9-3ss would seem to support this.
I'd also speculate that the diagnostic software is primarily intended to eliminate needless replacement of the DI via a legitimate diagnostic routine, hence reducing Saab's warranty exposure in this ill advised venture into challenging the laws of thermodynamics.
