I'm not sure what's going on with the car, it's a 2k 2.3 A/T Gary Fisher wagon with 41k miles on it. The tires have stayed the same and they're all at 35 PSI. The engine temp appears normal and I'm running the BPCR7ES11 plugs gapped at .036, when I installed the new plugs and removed the dealer installed BCPR6ES's (less than 2 weeks on the plugs and new DI) I did notice that there was a significant amount of carbon deposits on them.
I'm on my 4th tank of 92 Octane but I'm not sure about the formulation. I've just gone through a tank with injector cleaner but that hasn't helped.
What's strange is that initially I had to upgrade / downgrade several times but my gas mileage decreased right after my initial load. The software and initial "testing" somehow caused my DI to start failing (random misfiring under increased engine load/acceleration). I was fortunate in that Bo from Engstrom assisted me with the diagnosis and after a trip to the dealership that was resolved with a new DI/plugs. Unfortunately my gas mileage has not gone back to the levels before I upgraded the software.
If the car is running rich is there anything I can do or is a trip to the dealer/shop required? I've pulled the fuse for the ECU so that it would reset / re-adapt but that really hasn't helped with my mileage.
