There are 25.4 mm in an inch, and that 5 mm minimum is between 1/8" and 1/4". At 21,000, mine have more than 1/4" left, and probably won't need replacing for at least 8-10,000 miles. I see posts here all the time about replacement at 20,000 or even sooner, and a dealer has told me that they go for that time point (and make good money). If replacing at 30,000 with rotors is what turns out to be needed, you are giving the dealer money for about 30% more brake jobs, and the "needs rotors" position taken by SAABTECH does not apply to prematurely replaced pads.
