A few answers... There isn't any turbo lag, as you probably knew it from the past. The clutch is very light, but you will get used to it. There are side air bags in the driver's seat. Not sure about the passenger side, I think it has them too. Don't worry about those 17" rims, unless you hit a huge pot hole, they are pretty sturdy. Yes, you will definitely need snow tires, unless you opt for all season tires, which will last longer than the high performance summer tires (20-30K). Do a search on snow tires, you will find lots of info. No On-Star unless you pay. It takes about 20K to really break the car in. Mine is two years old and it still makes me smile every time I drive it :-)
