on earth. You did the right thing, they don't deserve your patronage. Feel free to name the dealer so others here will know enough to stay way from them. Then again, If thats the type of behaviour they exhibit, they won't be in business very long anyway.

Seems to me that the dealer pulled an about face for the simple fact that he was losing money somewhere, probably in the shipping deal, he may have grossly underestimated it or even just a math error, after all, he does not sound like a Rhodes scholar. He was definately trying to scare you right out of a deal that was not doing a thing for his bottom line, and he succeeded.

Buy the car in Philly, enjoy the Xenons to boot and don't worry about the service, they will treat you no better or worse than any other customer, because they make more $$ on service than sales anyway. You'll be going there 1 or 2 times a year and in 6 months the loony tune in the office will have forgotten all about you, since he probably pulls that crap on someone once or twice a week. There at least 3 dealers in western mass, 1 near Umass, 1 in Springfield and there is 1 in Auburn that may not be that bad of a ride, so you do have options and 2 or 3 trips a year shouldn't be a hardship.

I definately would call Saab Customer care and file a complaint, Saab needs to know about these guys and they should be weeded out. They may serve up a little well deserved justice for the ranting lunatic, even if it is just a slap on the hand.
