I'll never sell a car to a friend again. I DID sell our old Saturn L to my father in law for his daily driver when he does not drive the Corvette. That one worked out well but I would consider it an anomoly.
The value had gone down considerably so I just sold it to him for the trade value. It was worth much more than the trade value and it was such a good car that I wanted somebody I knew to benefit from this. Also, we get to keep the car in the family. He has had no problems with it since he bought it from us 2 years ago.
Before anybody goes bashing these things remember that this is what drove us to the Saab 9-5 Aero. These two cars have the same underpinnings even though they are worlds apart. A good chassis is a good chassis. My wife wanted what she had in the Saturn L along with smoother everything, better looks, better performance, even better safety, and a sunroof. :) That's how we ended up with the Aero wagon; my favorite car ever.
