The 88 9000T I bought had 87,000 miles on it. Shop put in a load of AMSOIL 10W-30, and I drove it off. Now has about 135,000 on it, and hasn't leaked yet.
I recommend using a good engine flush, such as made by AMSOIL or BG, before changing. If you don't, or won't, flush, then watch for any sign of sudden increase in oil consumption. If you do note this, change the oil filter and top off.
In over 26 years of using and selling AMSOIL, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many had oil seal leakage problems. And have not had any, that I know of, in the past 10 years. Non-synthetic oils are a lot better now than they were, and less prone to sludge/varnish if changed regularly.
