bill, you should take another look at the 9-5 wagon. I own an older C900 (1984, NA) and, while I miss the headroom too, I find the wagon very compatible both in hauling space and flexibility. If you purchase/lease an Aero wagon you won't be disappointed... if you enjoy driving (as AeroLady puts it, "a real car") try to find a 5-speed... tho you may have to special order one like I did.

Sure it's not as tossable (if that's a word) as a 9-3 but we're talking about a different car with a different mission in life... the 9-5 Aero is still very fun to drive once you learn where it's edges are... the Aero Academy will help immensely there... a must do if you end up purchasing a new one. Also look around. You'll almost never see another Aero wagon so it still has a mild cult status (mine was mistaken for a Magnum last night??!). Dean *is correct* about the DI cassette... it's one of the very few weak links in the car but, in general, reliability is quite high considering the complexity of the engine, etc. Judging from posts on the board there have been occasional lemons but these mostly seem to be the earlier production models i.e., 1999, 2000.

All in all a great, well-balanced car tho a little long-in-the-tooth by some peoples' standards. I would not consider an Aero a "mommy car" in any way, shape, or form... but then that's IMHO.
