As mentioned in a previous posting, my '99 2.3L Lpt /5 sp. man P.O.S. 9-5 (btw - w/ only about 85k miles on it and already eating its way through its 3rd DI cassette) recently died, leaving me stranded out of town (yet again - only surprise there being my continued capacity to be surprised by such occurances with this "vehicle"). Well, over one full week in dealership (and $1300.00) later, w/out DI casette or CPS being the issue, but with new fuel lines and new fuel pump installed, it's running again.
Now I could pause here to tell you the part about how I was originally told it would take 7 (seven) to 10 (ten) "business days" (!!!) to bring the part (fuel line) in "from Sweden" (!!!!!!!!) and how much of a stink I finally had to make with GM's Customer Assistance Line in order for that ridiculous nonsense to be dealt with, but why digress? (although it must be said, the particular part of this episode where I asked why on earth the dealership could not simply pull said parts from a NEW car and install the replacements on the new car "7-10 business days" later is a particularly tragi-hilarious sub-event...)
So all's well again now! Ah...uh... except of course for the new mystery problem that has cropped up now that the car has been "fixed": as of the night I picked the car up from the dealership, every time I attempt to use the windshield/headlamp wash-wipe system (pull wiper lever toward self) the 30 amp fuse goes POP and all 4 wipers and the washer fluid pump die. Needless to say I am now without "wash 'n' wipe" capabilities until this latest mystery gets solved and I've gone through more than a few 30 amp fuses due to inadvertently pulling the wash-wipe lever toward me slightly while trying to activate/deactivate wipers alone.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS AND DOES ANYONE >KNOW< A/THE CAUSE?
I need to get this solved (and fixed at an independent shop) so that I can ditch this total piece of crap to some unsuspecting Euro-enthusi-rube and acquire instead a RELIABLE (if less racy looking) Japanese vehicle-appliance such as an Accord or Camry - something that will not develop a new, quite probably dangerous and always expensive problem every time I blink.
At this point I am totally disgusted with this vehicle - with the Saab marque and especially with GM. I consider the wiper/wash/ failure in this case to be a highly significant safety defect. Had this latest failure happened to me in a heavy rainstorm I could be dead. My 9000 was a superlative vehicle. What happened GM?
