in my case it's a 9000 instead of the 9-5 but same problem. The car would start but needs a few more cranks than before fuel filter change. Also, if you fill the tank up to full, it starts better with fewer cranks. The problem seems to work itself out in time. Any big air bubbles probably would get out in the first few cranks right after filter change but I can imagine some minute amount of air remaining in the fuel line or in the new fuel filter.
I don't know how remaining trapped air is going to be released other than dissolving itself slowing with the moving gas. So that could explain why I need fewer crank to start now than the few days after the filter change.
