ABS/TCS help needed

Last Saturday, got the following error condition:
Check engine, ABS fault, and brake fault.
Pulled over, shut the car off and restarted
Same indications
Restarted again, this time got the same faults plus a TCS off light
Restarted again and only got the check engine.
Took it to my local Saab dealer on Monday
They said they found a corroded connector and thought that would fix it.
Drove it again and the same code came up (P1925)
They said the ABS/TCS control unit was not talking to the ECU module.
They plugged in the electrical connections from a new unit and got the two units to talk together.
Then they plugged in the original unit and the problem was gone.
They had a technician drive the car home and bring it back the next morning, and the check engine light and TSC off indication came back.
Now for the really bad news. They are saying I need a new ABS/TSC hydraulic control unit.
The part cost is $2900 and labor is $600
I haven't decided what to do, but I sure could use some advice.
I'm planning on talking to the Service manager on Monday to have him guarantee me that if they replace the unit and it does not fix the problem, I won't have to pay the $3500.
Can you think of any options I have?
How about a control unit from the wrecking yard?
Any thoughts or condolences would be greatly appreciated
