2nd owner and 20k...... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 2002 aero brakes squeal - dealer says it's normal, velomonkey, Thu, 12 Aug 2004 11:23:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you were the original owner and had a few less miles, than Saab would have a warranty fix willingly at no charge, but as the second owner and being beyond the magic 16,000 mile mark, the factory service rep is unlikely to approve any good will to fix your brakes.
It would be good will issue on miles alone as you're past 16k, but the fix now at 20k is basically new brakes and there's no warranty money pigeonhole for brakes past 16k, only good will is availible and the first good will question or qualifier is "Original owner?"
Had you been the original owner, Saab would have accomodated your braking style to eliminate squeaks, but with a new owner at 20k it could simply be a change in driving styles that's causing the squeaks.
Most break squeakers will admit to be light brakers, people who really use their brakes seldom complain of squeaks. More vigorous use of the brakes keeps them cleaner and glaze free. Perhaps the solution is under your brake foot.
