Update on short belt

The belt I used (060960) been fine for about 2,500 miles so far...the only issue I have is I think the idle's too low, so quick steering at low (parking lot) speed + automatic + a/c drops the idle way way low. I gotta get that bumped up. It doesn't chirp the belt, so I'd have to conclude it's got enough contact area.
I also have a metallic rattle at one certain RPM speed, again, I don't think it's belt-related, it's either the unbelted center pulley or (embarassment) something I dropped in the engine bay by accident.
I did run across a routing diagram form the non-a/c 9-5, which has double the contact area. This may be why they were hesitant to reduce it even more. That or they read my post (just kidding).
My gut feeling is you might even be able to go another range shorter, although the tensioner sits pretty much in the same spot as OE.
