I believe that all Saab turbos except the Aeros have a knock sensor that retards timing and boost when the rating of the gasoline can't keep up. The Aeros are fully blown so preimum is always called for. Low octane fuel actually has more power per ounce then premium but the premium burns a little slower so preignition is less likely. With most cars as long as there is no pinging or knocking one is better off with the low octane. With Saab turbos and GM cars with the Northstar systems with knock sensors one sacrifices power with low octane fuel. I would experiment and see how much boost you get with with different grades. With my old 1994 9000CSE, now my son's, I could tell no difference between the 89 and 93 grades but it is sluggish on 87. Also the mileage is slightly better with the midrange gas than with the premium.
