Which means (and this has appeared on this board before over the years) that if premium gives 5-10% better mileage (and this makes sense because the engine revises its instructions when getting lower octane and does not burn it as efficiently)and yet costs 4-5% more (current differential)then not only is the mpg greater, but the overall cost is also less.
And, since less gas is being burned, there is the added advantage of LESS pollution.
Seems like there is no choice here.
The only concession I make to the engine being maxed for 90 octane is I run 89 since it is way too much trouble (especially with credit cards) to try to mix 90 from the pump.
