If you take a measuring tape and check the height from bottom of oil pan up to valve cover. That's how much you have to get the front of car up in the air to slide the engine/trans out from under.
On the 9000 model it was possible to lift the whole engine trans assembly up and out of the engine compartment (even though it's easier to drop that one too) if you removed the battery tray. But that model had plastic wheel fender liners that gave more room.
Well, it is a dirty and time consuming way of doing it.
Take the cylinder head off in car and remove exhaust/intake manifolds.
Hang the engine/trans from an engine hoist.
Remove subframe.
Remove oil pan.
Lower the engine/trans to the ground and unbolt the transmission under the car.
Now you have less over head that needs free clearance to slide under the front of car.
Put everything back together the same way.
What happened to just replacing the piston rings? Was the cylinder walls all scraped up.
Good luck
You need it
