We're staying a step ahead of you, but it's comforting to know we're singing the same tune. I've done the measurements, and the engine is about 24 inches tall. The front bumper is 20 inches from the floor at the moment, and I would think that another four inches would be easy, especially after dealing with far steeper angles on both Porsche 944s and 911s.
Do I assume correctly that one supports the engine with a hoist, then removes the support structure, then lowers the engine? If so, I think we can see our way clear to get this done. The shadetree method on a 944 requires only a piece of carpeting. Lower the engine onto the carpeting, then slide it out.
Why do this? First, it's a high mileage engine and a leaker, and it would be so much easier to go through if it were on a stand. And, second, I'm a little afraid that the #4 cylinder is scored, but maybe not.
There's still some time to do some thinking . . .
Thanks.
Dave
