Your right, it is a tough test - just worked out that way one day when a limb was down in the road and I had no choice but to stop. I was amazed that the Subaru could start up in conditions like that. Our hill is a little crazy - 1.4 miles long with two 18% pitches but the views are worth it!
Our 9-5 wagon is our third Saab and our Legacy is our second Subaru. As much as I appreciate the SAAB driving experience - ergonomics, intuitive road feel, safety, comfort, style, etc...the reliability issues concern me. Why my Subaru (which obviusly belongs to a less refined class of cars) should be bulletproof in reliability while my almost $40K (new) SAAB should have a turbo replaced under 50K miles is beyond me. I think our next car will be a new Legacy GT wagon with the 250hp turbo and AWD.
Good luck with your SAAB.
David
