Dealer had vehicle for 3 days. Unable to replicate stall on cold start. :-(. (2003 ARC Wagon (3.0t). Car stalls on cold start (ie idles for 2 to 3 seconds a then stalls; ie car still in park. High altitude; 6500 ft.
Recommended I "feather" gas peddle on cold start to add just a skoosh more gas on ignition. They said the problem might be related to MTBF in gas or my driving habits...ie not driving the car enough to get it up to temp; leading to carbon deposit on valves..... Car has had this problem intermittenly since new (I now have 11,500 miles).
Its not that big a deal...I guess...I can live with it...just strikes me as odd that a brand new car would need an extra boost of gas..ie the car couldn't figure all that stuff out with its brain and fuel injection system etc....I've owned a number of fuel injected cars in the last 15 years and they start right up...no extra gas or manipulation on my part.
Anyways...I posted this a few weeks ago and it sounded like there were a few others that had this problem (V6 and 4Cyl). Thought I'd share what happened. Maybe their solution (ie crack the throttle 1/10th) will work for everyone. Although frankly, I think there is more to this and until Saab gets 1000s of complaints, they'll just ignore it.
