You may notice some performance loss in summer heat in LA on California 91 octane gas (I did), but the car will run without any concerns about the engine disintegrating. Now with the cooler weather, my '00 Aero is doing better and a lot of the performance is back. Back to the subject though, the engine management software is programmed to adapt to the octane in the gas down to 86/87 octane and will adjust the spark advance, the turbo boost and probably the throttle opening to match the conditions and fuel.
