Two suggestions..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Mon, 29 Nov 2004 16:27:52 In Reply to: EEEEEEiiiiiIIIeeeiiiEEEEEK, Jeff, Sun, 28 Nov 2004 16:02:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Ask you dealer for an appointment to discuss this. You may have to get the service advisor's boss, the service manager, involved. Hopefully you can duplicate the noise at the dealer to the service advisor and the service manager. Ask them what can be done. Suggest perhaps a disassembly, cleaning, anti-sieze/anti-sqeak compound, chamfering the pads, or perhaps new pads and rotors. I hadn't heard of the wheel bolt excessively torqued contributing to sqeaking, but that's an easy fix too.
The second suggestion is "out of bounds". Your brakes shouldn't squeak regardless of your driving style and Saab should attempt some of the above mentioned fixes. You're within the 12 months 16,000 mile adjustment window. However your driving style may be a contributing factor to sqeaking. Light braking without ever getting the brakes and rotors hot enough to wear off the glaze may contribute. One of the other posters recommended some more serious stopping to help with squeaking. That's one of the reasons your service department may not be empathetic because they don't drive the car as gently as you do. And that's one of the reasons I recommend an appointment with the service departments is so that you can demonstrate the noise first hand.
So the second suggestion is only a thought. If I drove your car your brakes wouldn't squeak for me, but that doesn't mean Saab shouldn't fix the squeaks for you.
