I'm sure you will find any manual a good investment. Alldata.com seems very interesting but I had already bought the Haynes manual when I heard about it. Just checked in my Haynes and it has detailed instructions on how to adjust hand break. Alldata is a subscription you have to renew every year but that way you are always up to date on service bulletins etc... think they have very accurate illustrations.
As for your handbrake freezing, maybe it is to tight ? Mine did that after I had my rear brakes cleaned after 100K Kilos so I brought the car back and the tech told me he ripped something off that was maybe causing the problem. Don't know what it was but I will ask him . In any case, I will go back because now the handbrake is to loose for performing good winter slides. (The white stuff can also be a lots of fun!)
