Is the warrantee really worth it?

So I go to the dealer for a simple problem. The rear tailgate does not have enough lift in the cold weather. BB diagnosed as failed lift struts which makes sense. Turns out they don’t have the parts in stock. OK no biggy, but then they say there is nothing wrong. Master tech thinks it lifts fine and there are no visible stains on the headliner from a leaking damper so they will not replace for fear of Saab not paying. This is after I show them an ’01 in the next bay that lifts fine. The service advisor tells me it’s no different, mine just has to be a few inches higher to go up. Apparently he can’t feel all the extra tension in the lifters on this other car. I’m off to yet another dealer. Any suggestions for dealing with this in the future? I would have been pushier had they had the part. Although if the staff is this stupid, do I really want them touching the car anyway?
So is the warrantee really worth it, especially after factoring the hassle of getting things fixed? What do we actually pay on a new 9-5 for the factory warrantee?
