OK. I've just been informed by the SAAB dealer that my serpentine hose failed as the result of the upper idler pulley siezing. Cost to fix is $350. They then called back and said the belt "wrapped around" the water pump pulley and they can't get it off. Their remedy is to remove AND replace the water pump. The cost for that is an additional $550. I asked what it would cost to simply remove the pump, detangle the belt, and replace the pump. They said that would be about $250 in labor (thus new pump is about $300). They strongly recomend against simply putting the old pump back on as they fear the pulley on the pump has been compromised by the belt getting wrapped around it. Seems to me they could simply check the pump pulley to see if it is OK.
Thoughts????
Help!!!
