I will recieve the Gislaved's on Friday so haven't had a chance to compare.
I was fairly happy with the Blizzak MZ-02's however I ran them on a 98 BMW 328i. Had I not seen the difference that snows could make on that car, I probably would have never really considered them. As it is, I can't really make all that direct a comparison as the cars are just too different. The Blizzaks are about to go on my old 900 but were previously on a RWD car with all the technology BMW could muster in 98 vs. a very basic 85 900.
My one disappointment with the MZ-02 was that the dry performance was not quite up to what I wanted. I probably should have went with a set of Pirelli's or similar. I chose the Gislaved's for the 9-5 because of the deal I got on the set and that I generally like to keep a stock look so I'll have the 16" snowflake wheels from Saab. I could have bought the wheels alone and tires from tirerack or similar but, it's almost as if the tires were free. I think the wheels alone were only about $100 cheaper than the whole package deal I got.
One other thing about the Blizzak's. They've got some kind of layered compound. Once you're through about 50-65% (check out tirerack reviews) of the tread they become fairly worn all-seasons. Put them on late and take them off early because they will probably be quite disappointing once their worn down. On the other hand, once you're through a lot of the tread, their performance (on snow and ice) will be compromised anyway.
Wish I could help more - sometime a little further into the season...
