perhaps a sensitive knock sensor or ks wiring harness?
the Firewire issue may be a clue.
Have you tried unbolting the knock sensor and wrapping it in a cloth rag and cable tying it away from engine vibrations?
Perhaps retarding initial spark advance to about 12-14 degrees?
FWIW, it is possible for rrfpr to go bad or even fuel pumps to not.
At this point I would instrument for fuel pressure...perhaps you're going lean and getting knock that is causing boost dump. Your mixture LEDs may be giving a vital clue, shouldn't lean out at wot.
SPG9 has 30# injectors, but I'd check fuel pressure first.
