Hi Arch,
I contacted two different places that offered remote car starter
installations. Both places said they would not touch a Saab!
The first place, "Car Essentials" said they would sell me a "DEI" system for
$179, but they refused to install it. They also said any warranty or other
issues would have to be handled thru "DEI" only, not thru "Car Essentials".
They offered NO support.
The next place I visited was "Ray Supply". The installer there, who has
done all of their remote starters (over 5-years), echoed the statements at
"Car Essentials".
He explained to me that on a Saab, the SRS, ABS and Check Engine lights will
come on every time the system is used. Reset them, use it again, back on
they come. There is, in his opinion, no way to modify the system to work
properly.
He said he would sell me the starter kit if I really wanted it, but not to
call him for support!
I thanked him for his honesty, and left. I have given up on the idea of a
remote starter for my automatic transmission Saab.
I was hoping to have it installed (or to install it myself) in a 91 900t
conv.
Sorry for the bad news,
Jon
