THE only hose I replaced was the lower, larger hose (I'm guessing this to be the feed line to the pump and the little hose the feed line to the reservoir.) There was a major leak near the pump where the larger hose attatched and in changing that out, the leak stopped. THe hose that was on it did looked worked. Initially, when I put new fluid in the system, it slowly drained to the pump and I continued adding some more until the reservoir was full, this with the engine running. Everything seemed fine but it didn't really change the feel of the steering. After taking the car for a drive, I returned home, checked the reservoir and saw that the level had gone down, so I added some more fluid...that's when the steering improved and the fluid began over flowing (once the car was started up again.)
I was planning on flushing the system the old fashioned way tomorrow anyway (just siphen the stuff while someone cranked the wheel from left to right until the fluid looked clean) but I'll check out your method and maybe learn something right for once. I'll let you know. If you have any other Ideas, please let me know.
Thanks,
dan
