88 SPG head? Lifter Noise? Drivability Problems!

I bought this car used and it now has 200K on it, fourth owner -- ugg.
1- My 88 head has external oil supply lines. I thought '88 and later had internal supply lines. (Possible head gasket replacement, but putting on an older head?)
2- I had the valve cover off to check proper cam alignment turning the engine over by the wheel and in gear (external oil supply lines found - *%*&^*!) Didn't touch a thing besides put a thin layer of sealant on the valve cover before putting it back on. Now, what I believe to be one or more of the lifters is making noise. Why???
3- The car has drivability problems which it had before I took the valve cover off. It idles on speed but has a burble/stumble at idle. Also is a pig while the engine is cold, not much better when warm. Has no get up and go, I may get 2/3 yellow boost on a good dayb (usually none with the lifter noise) but there is no power what so ever. This was even before the new lifter noise, with this noise you can imagine what the APC is doing. The car might as well be naturally asperated. Sometimes when getting off the gas then back on the car will buck like mad.
Help!!!
