Headliner is an esay 1/2 hour on a hatchback I would add another 1/2 hour for the 4 door. An extra set of hands is nice but not necessary I did mine alone. The other comment about the valve cover is correct. It is very easy. If you want to stop the oil ooze around the distributor get an o-ring for that as well. This does not have to be done at the same time, but while you are there you might as well and it is cheap. Either mark the distributor to head so that you put it back in the same orientation or check/set timing after you are done. The white smoke worries me. It sure sounds like a head gasket. Keep an eye on the oil looking for milky mixture indicating antifreeze in the oil. Also the same in the antifreeze. If it is a head gasket, you wil loose antifreeze. Keep a good eye on it regularly to see if it goes down. Good luck
