SPG springs

I think I've heard reference to "SPG springs" on this bulletin board. I checked my Saab parts guide and can't find any reference. Is there such a thing? I was going to replace the springs in my '85 900T with Intrax, but after getting them and realizing that they lower the car 1.5", I decided to send them back. I don't need to scrape the bottom of my car every time I enter a driveway. My mechanic suggests he just "cut" my current springs down (I'd like to drop about 35 to 40mm), but I worry because I have never heard of this being done. How could he ensure that he cut the exact same amount from every spring? If there is such a thing as an "SPG spring", would someone please post the Saab part number for it so I can start researching where I can buy some on the internet? Also, are they still available, or does one have to pull them off a salvaged SPG? Thanks in advance, as always!
