You're most likely going to find the pump low on fluid. This stuff
doesn't disappear, it leaks. Remove the back seat and look for oil.It could be the pump or a fitting, but usually is a cylinder. To check these
you also need to remove the interior side panels. Top up the fluid
and run the top up and down a few times to assess how bad the leak is.
If more than a few drops, you'll need to replace both cylinders.
Only one might be leaking, but they should be replaced in pairs.
If you're serious about doing it yourself, buy the saab factory
convertible service manual. It's not real expensive, and it a great reference. Use 10W non-detergent motor oil (I know saab says to buy the high priced stuff, but this was recomended to me by and independent Saab only shop, it works, and I figured they could have very easily sold me the high priced stuff; I always listen when someone is saving me money, while costing themselves a sale) to refill the pump. The 2 most common leak spots on the cv seem to be the trunk gasket and the rear window lower panel.
The 4-5" wide strip of canvas at the bottom of the window should be sealed to the bottom of the window.
