Congratulations, Dennis!
The kick in the pants I got after struggling to replace mine (the little diaphram on top had ruptured) was that a week or so later, the new one was broken, too. Some have recommended putting a check valve on the vacuum control line to prevent positive (boost) pressure from reaching the canister. I don't know if that would have saved mine or not, but it seems logical that positive pressures on that line could cause the diaphram to fail.
In any case, after going through the expense and hassle of replacing the silly thing, I found it faulty again while doing vacuum troubleshooting later on. It was definitely good when I installed it. It doesn't appear to cause me any problems so I've decided not to buy another new one. It's too bad they didn't make the little valve on top of the canister a separate replacement or repairable item, but the original spec was to replace the canister every 30,000 miles, so they probably figured it wasn't worth making them repairable.
