Some of you will remember me posting my Saab story last month. I've actually replaced my recently totalled 1992 Saab 900S with a 1992 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible and I've noticed some serious differences.

The biggest difference I've noticed is the fuel economy. My 900S 16V got close to 400 miles per a tank of gas. My new 900 Turbo is getting about 320 miles per tank - with the same gas. I'm wondering what the possible cause might be for this. Some things that might be considered are that the new car is a Turbo (I thought this might actually improve performance though), it's a convertible, it's also an automatic instead of a 5-speed (maybe the biggest attribute), and the right front ball joint supposedly needs work. I have all the service records on the new car and it has been immaculately maintained. As far as how it runs, it actually runs a little smoother than my 900S did. But whay such seriously degraded fuel economy???

Next, my cruise control was working when I purchased the car, but stopped that very day. The light comes on on the dashboard, but it doesn't work. Could this be the relay? Any other ideas?

I also notice that this car rides less rigidly than my 900S. Is this typical of a convertible? Or might the suspension have been modified on my previous car?

This is also my first turbo *anything*. Can anyone give me any advice to keep my repair bills low? Anything else to warn me about with any other features of this new car?

Any or all feedback is welcomed!

Thanks!
Cliff K.
