Hi Jim. The website is based on an '84 900T so the '88 base wiring may be different. On my car, there was only one nuetral safety switch wire, the other extra wire powered the lighting for the automatic console (PRND21).
Couple of questions. Do you have a Bentley manual? The wiring diags should help. Are you using the same ignition switch that was originally in the car? They are different between some years/models, that could be an issue. What wiring did you cut from one car to another?
My recommendation is to keep the original ignition switch with the car (it should fit in the manual housing). That way, no wire splicing is necessary.
My email is 900turbo@mail.saabnet.com email me if you have questions, I'd like to help.
Also, please post here if you find the problem, too many times we hear questions about problems on this forum but don't hear the outcome.
Good luck
